Responsibilities
  • Analyze failure root cause of RMA returns
  • Investigate cause of new product failures
  • Determine cause of yield excursions
  • Work with Design, Application, process, product and package engineering to identify the failure root cause and propose corrective actions
  • Write technical reports with failure analysis findings and distribute them to the team
  • Meet ADI’s failure analysis cycle time and quality commitments
  • Develop new techniques for analyzing failures
  • Take ownership for a piece of failure analysis equipment and keep it running
  • Mentor young engineers in the group
Minimum Qualifications
  • Engineering, Physics, or Science degree with semiconductor emphasis. (BS + 7 years OR MS + 5 years of experience)
  • Experience in Failure Analysis, Product, Design, Application, Fab Process or Test Engineering
  • Strong understanding of analog and mixed‑signal circuit analysis
  • Strong understanding of diode and transistor device physics
  • Ability to read schematics and layout
  • Knowledge of failure analysis tools and techniques: optical microscopy, X‑ray, EMMI, OBIRCH, ELITE, and microprobing
  • Experience with electrical bench equipment: curve tracer, voltage sources, current loads, oscilloscopes, source meter, function generator, etc.
  • Good understanding of FIB operation, parallel lapping, chemical deprocessing, and other physical failure analysis activities
  • Good English oral and written communication skills
  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Fab and/or assembly process experience a plus
  • Chemistry lab experience is a plus

The expected wage range for a new hire into this position is $130,168 to $188,490. Actual wage offered may vary depending on work location, experience, education, training, external market data, internal pay equity, or other bona fide factors. This position qualifies for a discretionary performance‑based bonus. This position includes medical, vision and dental coverage, 401(k), paid vacation, holidays, and sick time, and other benefits.
