Job Description
This Electrical Engineer role focuses on supporting a growing backlog of testing and troubleshooting activities as new products transition into the San Jose location. The engineer will help improve manufacturing efficiency by performing hands‑on testing of instruments and printed circuit boards (PCBs), diagnosing issues, and providing clear recommendations on PCB component selection and fixture designs sourced from vendors. This position plays a key role in ensuring new products are introduced smoothly and meet performance and quality expectations.
ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed testing and troubleshooting of instruments and their associated printed circuit boards to support new product introduction at the San Jose facility.
Collaborate with vendors to assess product specifications, resolve technical issues, evaluate new technologies, and ensure components meet engineering, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Diagnose electrical and functional issues in PCBs and instruments, and document findings in a clear and structured manner.
Provide recommendations on PCB component selection to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
Review and evaluate fixture designs sourced from vendors, and suggest improvements or modifications to support effective testing and manufacturing.
Collaborate with internal teams to address testing bottlenecks and reduce the backlog of troubleshooting tasks impacting manufacturing efficiency.
Communicate technical issues and recommended design or component changes to PCB suppliers and other external partners as needed.
Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline testing processes and enhance product quality.
Maintain accurate records of test procedures, results, and corrective actions to support traceability and ongoing product improvement.
Hands‑on experience with testing and troubleshooting of electrical instruments and their printed circuit boards.
Strong knowledge of PCB operation and common failure modes to effectively identify and resolve issues.
Ability to analyze test results and translate findings into actionable recommendations for design or component changes.
Proficiency in using test equipment and tools required for instrument and PCB troubleshooting.
Effective communication skills to convey technical issues and recommendations to internal teams and external suppliers.
Strong problem‑solving skills with a focus on improving manufacturing efficiency and product reliability.
Skills & Qualifications
Understanding of PCB design and layout principles to support recommendations on updates or design changes.
Experience collaborating with PCB suppliers and vendors to discuss design updates and resolve technical issues.
Familiarity with fixture design concepts and their role in testing and manufacturing processes.
The role supports a manufacturing and test environment at the San Jose location, working closely with instruments and their printed circuit boards as new products are introduced. The engineer will spend significant time in a lab or production area performing hands‑on testing and troubleshooting, using standard electronic test equipment and collaborating with cross‑functional teams and external vendors to improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of San Jose, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $70.00/hr.
