Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor/Solidworks/Inventor)
Employment Type:
Salaried direct with comprehensive benefits
Compensation: $115K - $150K range, with a target of $115K - $125K
About the Opportunity:
Wear multiple hats in this smaller sized company re-engineering and designing semiconductor equipment. Help establish a design department that includes creating the methodology and procedures to prepare for future growth. They are looking for an experienced semiconductor equipment designer that is comfortable working with the founder creating this new design center.
The CAD Design Engineer is responsible for developing, reverse engineering, and improving mechanical components, assemblies, and systems from concept through production. The role creates and maintains accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation; performs tolerance and design analysis; and supports prototype builds, testing, and design validation. Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Procurement, and suppliers, the CAD Design Engineer ensures designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, technically sound, and capable of meeting performance, quality, safety, and schedule requirements.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and design components, assemblies, and systems based on project requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings and documentation using CAD software, including Autodesk Inventor and Solid Works.
- Reverse engineer existing components and assemblies using physical measurements, drawings, specifications, and available technical data to create accurate 3D models and manufacturing documentation
- Perform design analysis, tolerance analysis, stress calculations, and simulation for thermal, structural, and fluid applications as required.
- GD&T and the ability to produce manufacturing-ready drawings.
Design for Manufacturing & Product Support
- Own assigned mechanical designs from requirements and concept development through detailed design, prototype, validation, and release to production.
- Create and maintain complete engineering design packages, including 3D models, manufacturing drawings, assemblies, bills of materials (BOMs), specifications, calculations, and supporting technical documentation.
- Maintain drawing and design configuration control, including revisions, engineering change orders (ECOs/ECNs), and release of approved design documentation.
- Participate in design reviews and resolve technical issues identified during manufacturing, assembly, testing, supplier review, and product validation.

Job Requirements
What You'll Bring:
Ideally a Bachelor's degree, but will accept a candidate without the degree with extensive semiconductor equipment experience.
Min 4 years of Solidworks and/or Autodesk Inventor experience involving product design, 3D CAD modeling, detailed engineering drawings, reverse engineering, and engineering analysis.
- This should include working knowledge of engineering drawings, materials, manufacturing processes, and design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
Min 1 year of experience designing semiconductor equipment.
Min 1 year of developing and interpreting detailed engineering drawings and specifications and performing dimensional and tolerance analysis.
Min 2 years with MS Office application tools
What Sets You Apart:
BSME or similar engineering degree
Min 4 years of semiconductor mechanical or CAD design experience in a product development, manufacturing, or engineering environment (a big plus to have Canon Stepper and/or Scanner experience).
Training experience
Experience performing tolerance stack-up analysis, stress calculations, and engineering design validation.
Experience with engineering simulation or analysis tools for structural, thermal, and/or fluid applications.
Experience supporting prototype builds, testing, design validation, product launch, and engineering changes throughout the product lifecycle.
Experience working directly with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and external suppliers to resolve design and manufacturability issues.
