Field Service Engineer - Semiconductor Test Interface Products
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is responsible for the installation, support, troubleshooting, repair, and optimization of semiconductor Automated Test Equipment (ATE) interface products, including load boards, test sockets, contractors, interface hardware, and associated accessories. This customer-facing role serves as the primary technical liaison between customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing operations to ensure successful deployment and performance of test interface solutions.
The ideal candidate possesses strong troubleshooting skills, semiconductor test knowledge, and excellent customer communication abilities. The position requires frequent interaction with semiconductor manufacturers, OSATs, design houses, and ATE engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities Customer Support & Field Service- Provide on-site and remote technical support for load boards, sockets, contractors, probe interfaces, and related ATE hardware.
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, and support test interface products at customer locations.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and performance-related issues affecting semiconductor test operations.
- Respond to customer service requests and maintain timely communication throughout issue resolution.
- Support customer qualification, production ramp, and sustaining activities.
- Document service activities, corrective actions, and customer interactions.
- Support semiconductor test interface products including:
- Load Boards
- Test Sockets/Cont actors
- Probe Interfaces
- DUT Boards
- Interface Hardware
- Thermal Interfaces
- Test Fixtures
- Verify product functionality and performance against customer specifications.
- Assist customers with setup, maintenance, cleaning, and replacement procedures.
- Provide recommendations for extending product life and maximizing test performance.
- Investigate hardware issues impacting test yield, continuity, repeatability, and device performance.
- Analyze failures associated with:
- Contact resistance
- Signal integrity
- Mechanical wear
- Alignment problems
- Socket contamination
- Thermal performance
- Perform root cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions.
- Work with engineering teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Develop strong relationships with semiconductor test, product, and manufacturing engineers.
- Act as the customer's primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts.
- Support customer reviews, technical discussions, and project meetings.
- Provide product training and best-practice guidance.
- Gather customer feedback and communicate improvement opportunities to internal teams.
- Partner with Design Engineering, Applications Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to resolve field issues.
- Support evaluation of new products, engineering samples, and prototypes.
- Assist with validation activities and customer acceptance testing.
- Recommend design enhancements based on field performance data and customer feedback.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) and customer qualification programs.
- Coordinate installation schedules, product deployments, and issue resolution activities.
- Assist in the planning and execution of customer evaluations and production transitions.
- Track open action items and ensure timely closure.
