Department Summary
The Department of Accounting and Finance offers undergraduate teaching in finance, accounting, and tax disciplines and encourages cross‑discipline research. The department hosts the MS in Accounting, MS in Taxation, and a new Masters of Science in Finance program with a corporate finance focus.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate courses, demonstrating effective teaching and excellent student engagement.
- Maintain weekly office hours and prepare course syllabi, Canvas materials, and assessment tools.
- Participate in faculty meetings and provide input on curriculum decisions.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System.
- Deliver courses in the mode assigned (asynchronous, synchronous, bimodal, in‑person, or hybrid) throughout the semester or term.
- Demonstrate awareness of, and address the needs of, a diverse student population through inclusive course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement.
- MS or higher degree in Accounting, Taxation, or Finance, or an MBA with an emphasis in accounting or finance.
- Individuals with a BS or BSBA may be considered if they are a CPA with significant industry experience.
- Current knowledge of the discipline to which the individual is assigned.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, as demonstrated through cross‑cultural study, training, teaching, or comparable experience.
- Professional experience in finance, accounting, or taxation.
- Professional designations such as Chartered Financial Analyst or Certified Public Accountant.
- Excellent teaching experience at the university level.
Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. The anticipated monthly salary rates for full‑time faculty are as follows:
- L‑A / Range 2: $5,507 – $5,959
- L‑B / Range 3: $6,221 – $7,481
- L‑C / Range 4: $6,825 – $9,431
- L‑D / Range 5: $8,593 – $10,347
