Salary Range $147,037 - $178,725 Annual Salary (Range M25: Management ). Starting salary placement is generally at Step 1.
Benefits SummaryIn addition to the salary, the position qualifies for the choice of one of the District’s excellent health benefits and welfare plans, all premium costs paid 100% by the District. Additional benefits include two medical plans (Anthem Blue Cross PPO and Kaiser Permanente HMO), dental (Delta Dental PPO), vision (VSP Choice), life insurance for employee and eligible dependents, long‑term disability/income protection, and employee assistance plan.
The District contributes an additional 26.81% of the employee’s salary towards a pension (CalPERS).

Position SummaryThe Director of College Fiscal Services reports to the Vice President of Administrative Services at San Jose City College. Full‑time, 12 months per year management position.
Position PurposeProvides accounting and financial reporting expertise, ensures compliance with regulations, and manages the Business Services Office operations and staff.
Nature and ScopeServes as principal liaison for the Vice President, the college leadership in budgeting and reporting. Oversees accounting, budgeting, finance functions, and performs professional accounting work within an ERP system.
Duties and Responsibilities- Accounting, auditing, budgeting, and cash management for California community colleges.
- Public finance and business administration theory and practice.
- Financial systems and budget development, tracking, and monitoring methods.
- Basic research and analytical methods.
- Financial and statistical record‑keeping terminology.
- Federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
- Principles of supervision, training, performance evaluation.
- Plan, organize, and manage effective operations of a community college business office.
- Use software for computer‑based accounting, budget, and data systems.
- Prepare clear, accurate financial reports and statements.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Schedule, supervise, assign, review work; train, guide, evaluate, & counsel employees.
- Interpret and apply district or applicable policies.
- Present solutions to management with confidence.
- Work independently with little direction.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
- Two years increasingly responsible experience in accounting and budgeting and supervision of employees.
