The Assistant Director Business Finance will join a highly regarded, innovation-driven organization in the San Francisco Bay Area that is helping shape the future of healthcare. As the Assistant Director Business Finance, you will support a commercial-stage organization operating within a quickly growing sector. Partnering with teams focused on sales, marketing, market access, commercial operations, and business development, this finance leader will play an integral role in the next stage of this company’s growth. The company continues to expand its commercial presence and invest in new growth initiatives, creating an environment where finance plays a critical role in strategic decision-making, operational excellence, and performance management.

This individual will report to the Vice President Finance and will serve as a key business partner across the commercial organization. Directly supported by Managers across all major commercial finance verticals, the Business Finance Assistant Director will also get to collaborate closely with senior leadership. Strong partnerships with Accounting, Revenue Recognition, Commercial Operations, Marketing, Sales Leadership, and Business Development teams will be essential to success.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic Commercial Finance partner to executive leadership, providing insights that drive revenue growth, profitability, and long-term business success.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, annual operating plans, and long-range Financial Planning and Analysis initiatives across commercial functions.
  • Develop sophisticated financial models supporting product launches, commercial expansion strategies, pricing initiatives, and investment decisions.
  • Deliver actionable recommendations through scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, profitability assessments, and market analytics.
  • Partner with sales, marketing, market access, commercial operations, and business development teams to improve performance visibility and inform strategic decisions.
  • Oversee revenue forecasting activities using market intelligence, customer demand trends, reimbursement considerations, and business performance indicators.
  • Support executive reporting, board-level presentations, and strategic reviews with meaningful business insights and financial analysis.
  • Evaluate commercial performance metrics, market share trends, customer profitability, sales effectiveness, and return-on-investment initiatives.
  • Collaborate with accounting and operational teams to align planning assumptions with actual financial results.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts, reporting enhancements, process automation initiatives, and data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Mentor and develop finance talent while building best practices across planning, analytics, performance measurement, and business partnership activities.
  • Contribute to operational planning, resource allocation, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and department development initiatives.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced education or professional certifications such as MBA, CPA, CFA, or similar credentials are highly valued.
  • Progressive experience within FP&A, Commercial Finance, Business Finance, or strategic finance environments.
