Role Description

The Financial Service Advisor (personal banker) is a full-time, on-site position based in San Jose, CA. This role is responsible for assisting members with everyday banking needs, including opening and maintaining accounts, processing transactions, and explaining credit union products and services. The advisor will conduct financial consultations, help members develop savings and borrowing strategies, and provide guidance on loan options and account features.

Daily tasks include responding to inquiries in person and by phone, ensuring accurate documentation, complying with regulatory and internal policies, and collaborating with team members to provide seamless service. The role also involves identifying opportunities to improve members’ financial well-being through appropriate credit union offerings.

Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess skills in Financial Planning and Retirement Planning to help members structure long-term financial strategies.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Finance and Investments to explain products, evaluate options, and support informed financial decisions.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Financial Advisory to provide personalized recommendations aligned with members’ goals and risk tolerance.
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain member relationships.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Basic proficiency with banking systems, office software, and digital tools used in financial services.
  • Previous experience in retail banking, credit unions, or financial services is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in finance, business, or a related field is a plus.
