The Community Services Division (CSD) empowers and supports residents, schools, and local organizations to make the city more livable, safe and clean. CSD is comprised of three core service program areas
-Beautify SJ, Grantmaking for Community Impact, and Youth Intervention Services. Overseen by a Deputy Director and two Division Managers, there are 148 full-time equivalent employees and an operating budget of approximately $46 million along with various sources including State, Federal and other special funds.

Currently, the Department is recruiting for one Over strength Community Services Supervisor for the Grantmaking for Community Impact Program. The Grantmaking for Community Impact (GCI) Team within the City of San José's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department (PRNS) strategically invests public resources to improve the health, safety, and well-being of San José residents. The team manages the full lifecycle of competitive grant programs—from program design and funding strategy to procurement, contract management, performance monitoring, evaluation, and continuous improvement.

The GCI Team oversees millions of dollars in annual grant funding that supports nonprofit organizations, neighborhood groups, schools, and community partners delivering services in youth violence prevention and intervention, neighborhood revitalization, older adult wellness, and other community priorities. The team ensures that public investments are transparent, equitable, data-informed, and aligned with City Council priorities and community needs.

Salary ranges for the Community Services Supervisor classification is:

All salary ranges include an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

PRNS is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Community Services Supervisor - Over strength vacancy within the Community Services Division (CSD).
This is a temporary (over strength) position that is subject to further extension as appropriate
. If this position is not extended through the budget process, the City may seek to place you in other internal job opportunities based on your previous work experience.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Support fiscal and administrative grant management with the State of California for the Proposition 64 Public Health and Safety Grant, including review of invoices, expenditure documentation, budget tracking, reimbursement materials, monitoring documentation,…
