Assistant Nurse Manager – Labor & Delivery; Nights – San Jose, CA

Opportunity Highlights

Full-time, 36-hour night shift role (standard schedule). Serve in a key leadership role overseeing L&D operations during overnight hours. Support safe, quality care within a 24/7 acute care environment. Lead clinical and administrative functions with a focus on performance improvement. Oversee daily clinical operations, allocate resources, and ensure regulatory compliance. Foster a supportive, team-based environment for staff, patients, and families. Line staff reports to ANM;

ANM reports directly to Department Manager.

• Supervise and coordinate unit operations, ensuring compliance with policies, standards, and safety requirements.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and development opportunities to staff.
• Monitor patient care quality, operational workflows, and staff performance.
• Oversee patient placement, supply use, and adherence to staffing and productivity goals.
• Participate in emergency preparedness and quality improvement initiatives.
• Ensure survey readiness and assist with audits, documentation, and follow-up.
• Assist in strategic planning and change management initiatives.

• Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (required at time of hire).
• American Heart Association BLS certification (required).
• NRP certification.
• Associate’s degree in Nursing or related field (BSN preferred).
• At least 2 years of L&D patient care experience in an acute care setting.
• At least 1 year of leadership experience (e.g., Charge RN, Preceptor, or Educator).

• Experience working in a Magnet facility.
• Union environment experience.
• Familiarity with The Joint Commission standards and regulatory compliance.
• Exposure to strategic project work and quality/safety improvement.

• Salary range: $193,000 – $197,000 annually.
