Under the direct supervision of the Child Life Manager, the Child Life Specialist will be responsible for assessing individual patients and facilitating techniques to enhance coping, providing appropriate play opportunities, establishing supportive relationships with patients and their families, and collaborating with other members of the health care team. They will also maintain appropriate records and keep their level of professional knowledge at an acceptable level.
The Child Life Specialist supervises volunteers and students assigned to their department.
Main and South Campus, hours varie, some holidays and weekends.
Responsibilities- Assess individual patients and facilitate techniques to enhance coping.
- Provide appropriate play opportunities for patients.
- Establish supportive relationships with patients and their families.
- Collaborate with other members of the health care team.
- Maintain accurate records and keep professional knowledge up to date.
- Supervise volunteers and students assigned to the department.
- Education Requirements:
Bachelors (Required). - Must receive CCLS Certified Child Life Specialist within 1 year of employment.
- Certification/License Requirements: CCLS - Certified Child Life Specialist, Association of Child Life Professionals.
