Overview

Veeco is currently seeking an experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) for our San Jose, CA location. This site is home to Veeco’s lithography and annealing product lines, which are essential to our continued growth and industry leadership. Our modern facility features on-site manufacturing teams working alongside engineering, technology, product support, field service, and other essential business functions. In this highly visible role, you will be on-site, supporting a wide variety of activities, including employee relations, organizational development, performance management, recruiting, and visa support, as well as HR leadership involvement in key business initiatives, programs, and projects.

This position reports to the Sr. Manager of HR, also located in San Jose.

Veeco’s San Jose location has employees on-site daily. Our ideal candidate is a leader who wants to be there with their team, values in-person collaboration, and takes ownership of their site. To meet business needs, this position requires an in-office presence 5 days per week, with availability to meet with 2nd shift employees several days a week (hours can be adjusted accordingly, for example 10:30am-7pm on those days).

Responsibilities
  • Provide HR counsel and support to the local leadership team and site employees on HR-related matters. (There may be opportunities to expand influence and take on other business functions).
  • Ensure Veeco remains compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations; keep site leadership and HR management informed of potential HR-related legal issues. Provide solutions and recommendations and work with the business to resolve issues and maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR functions such as Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, and Learning to drive the global talent strategy and maximize talent impact and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Compensation & Benefits to ensure consistent compensation structures across Veeco (Radford).
  • Deliver exceptional HR support and enable business leaders and employees to meet their objectives.
  • Collaborate with other Veeco sites and HR colleagues to ensure consistent and scalable HR processes and services throughout Veeco.
  • Assist in implementing efficient, effective, and compliant HR systems and practices aligned with Veeco’s global HR approach and suggest improvement opportunities when practical.
  • Direct activities and programs to support open and effective communication between management and employees, nurturing an effective culture aligned with Veeco’s Core Values. Alert leadership to developing issues and monitor employee morale. Work closely with site leadership on change management activities.
  • Proactively evaluate the site’s organizational design and recommend strategies to optimize effectiveness.
  • Consult, advise, and assist managers at all levels to improve their effectiveness with their employees, and drive coaching, employee engagement, and satisfaction. Coach managers on proactive performance management when necessary.
