Job Summary
The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office is seeking an experienced and proactive Information Technology Consultant to support and enhance our business processes, systems, and technology. The Information Technology Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert in People Soft Financials, playing a key role in maintaining system operations, improving efficiency, and supporting regulatory compliance in student financial aid.
Job Summary
The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office is seeking an experienced and proactive Information Technology Consultant to support and enhance our business processes, systems, and technology. The Information Technology Consultant will serve as a subject matter expert in People Soft Financials, playing a key role in maintaining system operations, improving efficiency, and supporting regulatory compliance in student financial aid.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary tester and troubleshooter for the People Soft Financial Aid modules
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of ISIRs, Cal ISIRs, Middle Class Scholarship, and Cal Grant data
- Support the full project lifecycle: planning, testing, deployment, and post-implementation review
- Coordinate with technical and functional teams to ensure business needs are effectively translated into system solutions
- Develop and maintain audit-ready documentation and reports for FISAP, NSLDS, COD, and other regulatory bodies
- Lead and document financial aid system upgrades and provide campus-wide training and technical support
- Ability to communicate with constituents in a professional and respectful manner
- Thorough knowledge of People Soft Query and SQL
- Knowledge of university financial aid processes
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently, make sound judgments, decisions, and commitments within a team environment
- Excellent facilitation skills
- Ability to influence and gain support for a decision while collaborating with a decentralized customer base
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills and ability to understand and troubleshoot admissions and transfer credit issues
- Ability to adapt to changes and be proactive in identifying when changes impact People Soft configuration and/or functionality
- An in-depth and extensive knowledge of all financial aid federal and state rules and regulations, PS processes, and the relationships between Financial Aid and other areas, including Student Records, Admission, and Bursars
- Working knowledge of SQR, File Maker, and FTP
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study
- Three (3) years of experience supporting information systems and technology
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree computer science, technology, business or related field
- Five (5) years of experience supporting information systems and technology

Anticipated Hiring Range: $8,084/month - $9,167/month
CSU Salary Range: $5,158/month - $12,730/month
