Position Overview:

The Technical Enterprise Architect (TEA) will serve as the lead technical architect H2O America’s maturing Enterprise Architecture (EA) practice. This role provides leadership across Oracle Utilities Cloud Services (OUCS), Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications, Oracle Utilities Application Framework (OUAF), and multi‑cloud environments spanning Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role bridges enterprise‑level strategy and hands‑on solution design to guide technology decisions and enable standardization across company subsidiaries as well as supporting future growth.

They will play a foundational role in maturing the enterprise architecture discipline, aligning technology investments, fostering collaborative decision‑making, and building a scalable technological architecture that supports long‑term growth. Success in this role integrates extensive technical expertise as well as strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills to enable strategic growth and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Defines and maintains enterprise‑level technical architectures across cloud, integration, data, and application domains.
  • Designs scalable, secure, and resilient technological solutions covering OUCS, Fusion Cloud, OUAF, and related utility platforms.
  • Develops reference architectures, integration patterns, and technology roadmaps aligned to organizational maturity and growth.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop the enterprise’s strategic architectural roadmap. Leads strategic execution to deliver a standardized, scalable, and secure technology platform.
  • Architects solutions leveraging OCI native services, Fusion extensibility, and OUCS capabilities.
  • Guides the use and governance of AWS and OCI for compute, networking, storage, automation, and security models.
  • Defines integration strategies among cloud applications, enterprise systems, and field/operational technologies.
  • Establishes architectural standards, design principles, guardrails, and reviews processes for an EA practice.
  • Provides oversight and governance for solution designs developed by internal teams or external vendors.
  • Assesses architectural risk, debt, and strategic alignment to support strategic portfolio planning.
  • Support harmonization of processes and systems across newly acquired utilities.
  • Develops and maintains Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Collaborates with IT leadership, program managers, business stakeholders, and technical teams to create unified architectural direction.
  • Partners with Finance and IT leadership to evaluate total cost of ownership and long‑term financial impact of architectural decisions.
  • Mentors siloed technical teams on improving capability, alignment, and architecture literacy.
  • Develops and tracks KPIs related to cost, resilience, risk, and platform standardization. Presents findings as needed.
  • Maintains relationships with key business and support function stakeholders to identify satisfaction levels and emerging needs for the services provided.
  • Identifies process improvements as well as opportunities for growth and modernization to increase operational efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Maintains high level of adherence to cybersecurity principles, ethics practices, and company policies.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.

Salary:
  • Connecticut and Maine: $136,986 to $246,534
  • California and Texas: $169,000 to $304,200
