Responsibilities

The Data Center Development team is responsible for global data center capacity planning and resource delivery, as well as business development and ecosystem partnerships across data centers, network resources, submarine cables, and telecommunications services. The team provides stable, reliable, and efficient data center infrastructure services to support the company’s businesses.

We are looking for a self-motivated Data Center Capacity Planning Manager. As a Data Center Capacity Planning Manager, your responsibilities will include:
1. Responsible for overseas data center (DC) capacity planning and resource management for the Byte Dance Group, including formulating mid- to long-term capacity strategies and execution plans, taking into consideration key factors such as technology, cost, and regulatory/policy requirements.
2. Track business demand forecasts, build and maintain demand forecasting models, and dynamically adjust capacity supply plans to ensure timely DC space availability and sufficient flexibility to support evolving business scenarios.
3. Responsible for capacity management of data center resources, including capacity planning, supply-demand matching, and power utilization efficiency optimization.
4. Drive the digitalization of capacity demand request data and submission workflows; establish capacity monitoring and health metrics to ensure sustainable and reliable capacity supply.
5. Support DC resource adjustments and business migration initiatives, including data center decommissioning, reconfiguration, and site relocation projects.
6. Conduct DC market research and provide strategic insights, including policy and regulatory analysis and technology trend assessments, to support company decision-making.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or above, with 5+ years of experience in the IDC or data center domain; solid understanding of data center architecture and the full data center lifecycle.

- Strong knowledge of the data center market; prior data centre industry experience is a plus.

- Global mindset with strong logical thinking skills, and high sensitivity to market dynamics and data.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Proven project management capability, with proficiency in common project management tools and methodologies.

- Passion for the DC industry, with a systematic approach, strong ownership mindset, effective communication and coordination skills, and the ability to solve complex problems.

Job Information

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $112000 - $324000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others.
