ResponsibilitiesTeam introduction:
Our Compute Platform SRE team supports all Big Data services and products across the company. As a newly established team, we rely on talent like you to shape the future together. We are responsible for the reliability of all the company’s major data warehouse products, services, and query engines and serve business needs across domains at Tik Tok.
- Responsible for the reliability of all Tik Tok’s major data warehouse products, services, and query engines, such as Click House, Spark, Presto, Doris, etc.
- Uphold Service Level Agreements (SLAs):
Ensure that all service level objectives and agreements from Tik Tok’s Data Platform services are met and respond promptly to any system outages or issues. - Continuous Performance Optimization:
Analyze service performance and reliability patterns to identify potential performance bottlenecks, implement proactive measures to prevent service disruptions, and work with development teams to optimize application performance, ensuring services run efficiently and resources are utilized effectively. - Incident Management:
Lead efforts to troubleshoot and resolve service incidents and post‑mortems, coordinating with cross‑functional teams to manage and mitigate service‑impacting events. - Infrastructure Automation:
Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and management processes to reduce manual interventions and improve service quality. - Collaboration:
Engage with product and development teams to integrate reliability and performance considerations into the software lifecycle. - Capacity and Demand Planning:
Assess and forecast infrastructure needs based on growth patterns and upcoming initiatives. - Stay Updated:
Keep current with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to site reliability and infrastructure engineering.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Able to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
- In‑depth understanding of Linux, computer networking, and databases; proficient in common SRE/Dev Ops open‑source toolsets, system monitoring tools, and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
- Experience or familiarity with open‑source or commercial technologies such as Click House, Hadoop, Doris, Spark, Presto and Kubernetes.
- Strong coding skills in at least one scripting or programming language, including but not limited to Python, Shell, Java, Go, etc.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong customer‑first mindset, strong sense of ownership, and ease of collaboration.
The hourly rate range for this position in the selected city is $45–$45.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Interns have day‑one access to health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits and more. Interns also receive 10 paid holidays per year and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in first half of year, 40 if hired in second half of year). Interns who are not working 100% remote may also be eligible for housing allowance.
