AI Hardware Research Engineer

TSMC Corporate Research Organization is looking for fresh PhDs with a broad range of expertise in AI hardware. You are expected to efficiently support and advise other TSMC organizations with respect to AI algorithms, applications, and their device technology implications while being active in publications and patents. You will be reporting directly to the Sr. Program Manager, North America for our Corporate Research AI Hardware department.

This position is in San Jose, CA and we are currently operating in a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in office.

• Accelerator architecture modeling and simulations
• AI hardware architecture-algorithm-technology co-optimization

• PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
• Quick learner

• Hands-on experience with the following:
  • AI accelerator architectures and related simulators
  • Near/In‑memory computing
  • Generative AI and Transformers
  • Python and Pytorch

• CPU/GPU architectures and associated simulators
• SRAM/DRAM/emerging NVM and associated simulators
• 5D/3D packaging and co‑packaged optics
• Network‑on‑Chip topologies
• Reinforcement learning

At TSMC, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role typically pays a base salary between $128,500 and $175,000 per year. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range. Factors that influence pay include the individual's skills, qualifications, education, experience and the position level and location.
