Job Summary
Design, implement, and operate data infrastructure initiatives to provide a secure, scalable, reliable, and performant platform for the Venmo product, analytics, and other infrastructure teams. Automate provisioning, management, and monitoring solutions for the supported data infrastructure. Build scalable and reliable data pipeline architecture to optimize overall performance. Build tools that help users leverage data into actionable insights to improve customer experiences, operational efficiency, and business performance.
Build and implement message streaming solutions for Venmo applications with AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, and other technologies. Collaborate with stakeholders and teammates to address data‑related technical issues and support the data infrastructure needs.

- Automate provisioning, management, and monitoring of data infrastructure.
- Build and maintain scalable data pipelines and data sets.
- Develop tools that provide actionable insights from data.
- Implement message‑streaming solutions using AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, or similar.
- Collaborate with executive, product, engineering, and analytics teams to resolve data‑related technical issues.

- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in software development or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience operating on‑premises or cloud databases, data warehouses, and distributed systems, available 24×7×365.
- Hands‑on experience operating and maintaining message‑streaming solutions such as AWS SQS, Apache Kafka, etc.
- Proficiency with IaaS and PaaS solutions from AWS (or similar cloud provider). Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools: AWS CLI, Cloud Formation, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet.
- Hands‑on programming and scripting skills (Lambda, API Gateway, Python, Java, Bash).
- Experience with big data operations including AWS S3, DMS, SQS, Luigi, EKS, Spark, Glue.
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain technical issues to non‑technical audiences.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and learn new technologies and processes.
- Knowledge of TLS/mTLS protocols at the application level is a plus.
- AWS Solutions Architect certification is a plus.
