Principal Software Engineer - DevSecOps

Principal Software Engineer – Dev Sec Ops  (Applied Signal Technology – San Jose, CA)
This is an onsite position. U.S. citizenship required; TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph required after start.

• Drive and manage AST’s Dev Sec Ops  development environment, tooling, and process workflows.
• Coach, mentor, and enable engineering teams to adopt and utilize the Dev Sec Ops  ecosystem and workflows.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise Dev Sec Ops  applications, including application and plugin deployments, upgrades, patches, and configurations.
• Handle system migrations, cross‑application integrations, user provisioning, access management, and permissions.
• Provide project and technical user support: project onboarding, custom support requests, day‑to‑day troubleshooting, documentation of best practices, and template creation.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, engineering leadership, and development teams within the Engineering organization.
• Travel up to 25% to other AST locations and customer sites within the U.S.

• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing and/or supporting enterprise applications such as Atlassian Jira/Confluence, Gitlab, Cloudbees CI (Jenkins), artifact repositories (JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus, Pulp), software supply chain security tools (JFrog Xray, Sonatype Lifecycle, Black Duck), container and orchestration tools (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Helm), and secrets management tools (AWS Secrets Manager, Git Guardian).
• Experience with managing and developing CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, Groovy, Bash, Perl, etc.).
• Experience with Linux System Administration on Red Hat‑based distributions (RHEL, Fedora, CentOS, Rocky).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (KVM, VMWare, Hyper‑V).
• Ability to work collaboratively within multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Must obtain a U.S. government‑issued Top Secret SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph after start.

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Salt).
• Experience with observability dashboard tools (Datadog, Splunk, Grafana, Kibana).
• Professional certifications in Dev Ops/Dev Sec Ops  or CI/CD (e.g., CKS, CKA, CKAD, DCA, AWS Certified Dev Ops Engineer – Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty, RHCE, LFCE, CompTIA Security+, Git Lab Certified CI/CD Associate, Git Lab Certified Security Specialist).
• Strong foundation in Agile software development.
• Cross‑platform development experience focusing on RHEL/CentOS/Rocky 8+ and Windows.
• Familiarity with key U.S. government cybersecurity regulations and standards such as NIST SP800‑171, FIPS, and DFARS/CMMC.
• Basic understanding of telecommunications systems or signal processing concepts.
• Active, transferable TS/SCI clearance with polygraph (if previously held).
