About the role

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle.

This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers. Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Technical Program Manager for Platform Bring-up, you will be responsible for the end-to-end management of new hardware platform and SoC bring-up programs. You will work at the intersection of hardware, software, and firmware, collaborating with engineering teams and external partners like SoC partners, Original Design Manufacturers (ODMs) and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to deliver cutting-edge ChromeOS and Google book devices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead new platform bring-up programs from early SoC partner engagement through device launch, overseeing validation activities to ensure readiness for Prototype (Proto), Engineering Validation Testing (EVT), Design Validation Testing (DVT), and Production Validation Testing (PVT) build phases.
  • Define and track comprehensive program schedules, milestones, and dependencies, ensuring all platform enablement deliverables align with the internal Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Collaborate with external SoC vendors and ODMs while facilitating technical alignment among internal Hardware, Software, and Firmware teams to drive device strategy.
  • Identify technical risks and manage escalations, providing transparent status reports and mitigation plans to executive stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for platform bring-up methodologies, tools, and best practices to optimize team efficiency and technical decision-making.
