eBay is hiring a Sr. Director to lead Scale & Enablement, the pillar within eBay Design that brings Customer Technology, UX Research Systems, Design Technology and Design Systems together into one platform strategy. As a member of the Design Leadership team, the role defines how design operates at scale across systems, tooling, data and workflows, and builds the multidisciplinary organization behind it.

The mandate is platforms rather than projects: infrastructure that enables reuse, automation and AI-assisted design and research, plus adoption of design systems and standards across product teams. Success is measured in organizational leverage, faster iteration velocity and a more coherent, unified eBay product experience.

• Establish a clear vision for how design operates at scale across eBay, spanning systems, tooling, data and workflows
• Build a cohesive strategy across Design Systems, Design Tech, Customer Technology and Research Systems
• Lead the development of scalable design systems, shared services and internal platforms, and drive their adoption across product teams
• Invest in infrastructure that enables reuse, automation and intelligent workflows, including AI-assisted design and research
• Advance the integration of design and engineering through modern tooling, pipelines and shared frameworks
• Establish systems that connect research insights, customer data and design decisions into a continuous feedback loop
• Build and lead a multidisciplinary organization across Design Systems, Design Technology and Research Systems, attracting and developing senior talent
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data and Marketing leadership to embed systems and practices into how teams build, and influence roadmaps and technical strategy

• 15+ years of experience in product design, design systems, design technology or related fields
• 8+ years leading and scaling multidisciplinary teams, including senior leaders
• Proven track record of building platforms, systems or infrastructure that drive impact at scale
• Deep experience with design systems, design tooling and/or design engineering
• Strong understanding of UX research operations and systems and how insights integrate into product development
• Demonstrated ability to operate at executive level, influencing strategy, roadmaps and investment decisions
• Experience driving cross-functional alignment across Product, Engineering and Data organizations, with strong systems thinking
• Experience leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve workflows and outcomes, plus exceptional communication and storytelling skills
