Responsibilities

The HR Lifecycle Operations team strives to continuously build and deliver a seamless and positive employee experience across the whole employee lifecycle. As a Benefits Specialist at Tik Tok you will support various employee benefits, including but not limited to Leave of Absence (LOA), healthcare benefits, and the 401(k) retirement plan. The role also requires a Leave of Absence Analyst to audit, analyze, and visualize LOA data (sick leave, parental leave, medical leave, unpaid leave) to provide data‑driven insights that optimize LOA policies, reduce leave risks, improve workforce scheduling and enhance employee well‑being.

LOA

Data Analysis & Trend Identification
  • Conduct descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analysis on LOA data.
  • Descriptive:
Track key LOA metrics such as total LOA cases per quarter, average leave duration by type, department‑wise leave rate, and approval/rejection rate.
  • Diagnostic:
Investigate anomalies such as sudden spikes in medical leave or unusually long unpaid leave and identify root causes like workplace stress, seasonal illnesses, or policy gaps.
  • Predictive:
Forecast future leave demand to support workforce planning.
  • Analyze LOA impact on business operations and quantify associated costs such as payroll for paid leave and hiring temporary staff.
Reporting & Visualization
  • Develop regular LOA reports and dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, or SQL.
  • Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Present analysis results in meetings and tailor communication to non‑technical audiences.
Policy Optimization & Compliance Support
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of existing LOA policies using data metrics and employee feedback.
  • Provide data support for policy updates to ensure alignment with labor laws and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with HRBP teams to communicate policy changes to employees and track adoption rates.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with payroll teams to integrate LOA data with payroll processes.
  • Work with department managers to address team‑specific LOA issues and develop targeted solutions.
  • Liaise with tech teams to enhance HRIS functionality for LOA data tracking.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Masters in Data Science, Statistics, Human Resources Management, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SQL or HQL to extract LOA data from HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or Power‑Query and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
  • Basic knowledge of statistical analysis and data cleaning techniques.
  • Understanding of leave‑of‑absence types and relevant labor laws such as FMLA.
  • Knowledge of HR operations to contextualize LOA data insights.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in HR analytics or workforce analytics focusing on leave management or payroll.
  • Certification in data analytics (e.g., Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate, Tableau Desktop Specialist) or HR (e.g., SHRM‑CP, PHR).
  • Experience working in a global organization with familiarity of U.S. and multi‑country leave policies.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms such as Workday or ADP.
Equal Opportunity Employment

Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered in compliance with the Los Angeles County Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers and the California Fair Chance Act. Criminal history may affect the following job duties and could lead to withdrawal of a conditional offer:
