Samsung Semiconductor is seeking a Staff Storage Business Enabling Engineer to drive SSD business growth within the Neo Cloud and Software-Defined Storage sectors. This role serves as a critical technical bridge between the SSD business and the rapidly evolving AI infrastructure ecosystem, focusing on identifying emerging storage architectures and translating customer workload requirements into strategic product opportunities.
Location:
Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy with 10% of domestic travel.

Principal Engineer, R&D Product Development Planning
- Develop and maintain technical relationships with Neo Cloud, Storage Software, and AI infrastructure customers to understand their system architectures, workloads, and future storage requirements.
- Identify emerging AI/ML storage use cases and translate customer pain points into SSD product and solution opportunities.
- Analyze storage architectures including GPU servers, AI clusters, distributed storage, NVMe storage, caching, tiering, KV Cache, object storage, and disaggregated storage.
- Work with customers to define SSD requirements including capacity, performance, endurance, latency, power, form factor, PCIe generation, NAND type, and software/firmware features.
- Lead technical discussions, PoCs, evaluations, and design-in activities from early technology exploration through qualification and production.
- Bridge customer requirements with internal SSD R&D, Product Marketing, Sales, Application Engineering, and Business teams to drive product roadmap and customer engagement.
- Develop technical proposals, customer presentations, architecture analysis, benchmarking plans, and business cases to support SSD adoption.
- Monitor technology and market trends in AI infrastructure, Neo Cloud, storage software, and next-generation data center architectures and identify potential business opportunities.
- Build competitive intelligence on SSD vendors, storage platforms, and emerging storage technologies and translate findings into actionable business strategies.
- Support strategic customer engagements and executive-level discussions by providing technical insights and recommendations.
- Establish scalable customer engagement models and best practices for expanding SSD business with emerging AI infrastructure and storage ecosystem partners.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 10+ years experience.
- 5+ years of experience in SSD, NAND, storage systems, server, data center, or related semiconductor/technology industries.
- Strong understanding of NVMe SSDs, NAND Flash, PCIe, and modern data center storage architectures.
- Experience working with hyperscalers, Neo Cloud providers, server OEMs/ODMs, storage vendors, or storage software companies.
