Reporting to the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies & Research, and under the general direction of the Sr. Systems Analyst Lead of Engineering Computing Systems (ECS), the Systems Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and maintaining cost-effective, reliable college-wide computing systems. The incumbent coordinates and manages technology projects, provides technical support to students, staff and faculty, trains student workers and other technicians, generates and maintains virtual servers, and makes proposals and recommendations related to hardware and software for the college.

The Systems Analyst makes recommendations and provides specifications for procurement, installation, support, and maintenance of all requisite hardware and software for the College and makes recommendations for all Engineering departments; develops and implements operational policies, procedures, and practices necessary for reliable delivery of computing services; coordinates technology projects with the appropriate faculty, staff, and students; builds consensus and solicits input when making significant changes, and maintains good channels of communication in terms of decisions and policies associated with the delivery of technical services within the college.

Provides support through example and leadership to peers, faculty, and fellow staff members. Develops and implements requests and proposals for acquisition of equipment, software, supplies, and services. Keeps abreast of the latest of the latest developments in various fields related to computing and in particular to desktop support. Provides updates to the Senior Systems Analyst of ECS on the current status of computing and desktop support within the College.

Develops and maintains databases, records, documents and files associated with computing and desktop systems.
This position advances strategic initiatives and ensures day-to-day business functions are aligned with the core values of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective, reliable, efficient, and continuous operation of the College of Engineering academic, open, and research computer laboratories by serving as the systems administrator and lead.
  • Plan, design, procure, and implement upgrades and ensure computer laboratory configurations are relevant to and adequately support coursework.
  • Develop and implement procedures and tools for both network and local printing solutions for our computer labs.
  • Provide projector and related AV support and maintenance for COE-managed lecture rooms.
