We are seeking a self-motivated Family Law Associate to join a small, busy family law firm in San Jose. Prior family law experience is required.
Additional Information- Compensation is commensurate with experience.
- This is an in-office position (not remote).
- Applicants must be licensed to practice law in California.
- We do not work with third-party placement agencies.
- Law students and post-bar candidates should not apply.

- Represent clients in court proceedings as needed
- Maintain client files to ensure they are properly organized and up to date
- Create legal documents such as pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, contracts, judgments and orders for a high volume of cases
- Collaborate with senior partners and paralegals to effectively move files through the civil litigation process
- Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation and forming a strategy for a plan of action
- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and third parties
- Draft pleadings, declarations, discovery, and all other documents related to family law matters
- Analyze legal issues and develop strategic case plans tailored to each client’s goals
- Appear in court in Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo, and Alameda Counties
- Track deadlines, manage calendars, and ensure timely follow-through on tasks
- Proven record of success in advocating for plaintiffs and defendants
- Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
- Extra consideration for those with a criminal justice background
- 4-year degree with a legal background and J.D. degree are necessary for this position
- At least 1-2 years of working in a law firm on family law issues as well as real estate (determining marital property) is necessary
- Proven experience as a family law associate
- Strong knowledge of family law, court procedures, and litigation protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Computer proficiency
- Fluent English required;
Mandarin proficiency is a strong plus - Familiarity with Essential Forms and Interbill is preferred
- California bar license (Required)
