TheEDI/Agility Buyer will manage all supplier activities related to procurement and acquisition of materials and services to support the company plan at optimum cost, quality and delivery. The role examines purchase requirements, obtains quotations, negotiates best prices, works with engineers and suppliers for alternative manufacturing sources, researches products, sources vendors, and negotiates price, terms, and delivery of a wide variety of technical products to ensure maximum quality and profit.
It expedites and updates open‑order status reports, serves as a liaison between manufacturing specialists and suppliers regarding late, damaged, and/or short orders, reconciles discrepancies between PO receipts and Accounts Payable, maintains data integrity of PO and parts databases, manages material disposition and recovery plans, coordinates purchasing details with suppliers, expedites shortages, reviews requisitions, and ensures materials are pipelined and in stock to meet company requirements.
- Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, and source vendors for a wide variety of technical products.
- Maintain data integrity of PO and parts databases, and manage material disposition and recovery plans.
- Coordinate purchasing details with suppliers regarding price revisions, order cancellations, discontinued items, acceptable substitutes, delivery date revisions, and invoice reconciliation.
- Expedite shortages to meet manufacturing need dates and update commit dates on weekly shortage reports.
- Review requisitions for accuracy, completeness and prepare and process assigned purchase orders.
- Ensure materials are pipelined and in stock to meet company requirements.
- End‑to‑end implementation for all Agility programs (RTF, SMI, VCI, JIT).
- Run reports for all Agility programs and review proposed agility candidates.
- Maintain Blanket PO releases (quantity, delivery date and unit price) according to global and customer control items.
- Control PPV (Price per Variance) for items/BPOs with price change.
- Supervise weekly Agility processes (EDI forecast reschedule, firm release confirmations, forecast response review).
- Monitor weekly forecast response and exception reports, taking action to improve supplier response rate.
- Expedite critical items to pull in delivery date and supply related issues to the Agility program.
- Review Agility inventory turns metrics and drive improved penetration through additional vendors.
- Explain and sell the benefits of Agility to suppliers and support regional team on Agility agreements and addendums.
- Support to purchasing department related to specific Agility issues by customer and assist Doc Control team on Agility item setup.
- Bachelor degree and/or APIC certification.
- 8+ years purchasing experience / supply chain related experience in procuring electronic and electro‑mechanical components, raw materials, and other production supplies.
- Strong negotiation skills with all levels of suppliers and internal.
- Interfacing with the Supply Chain organization and suppliers to increase participation in inventory management programs.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (V‑lookup, Pivot Tables). PowerPoint, Word.
- CM background with direct customer interface.
- Good communication, writing skills and detail‑oriented.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Skilled in coordinating and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously.
