Job Summary:

Supermicro is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Data Center Supply Chain Manager to build and lead the supply chain foundation for next-generation modular data centers (DCBBS) and customer data center deployments. This role will be a key driver in developing structured supplier strategies, vendor qualification processes, and procurement frameworks to enable repeatable, scalable delivery with predictable cost, schedule, and supplier performance.

The successful candidate will coordinate sourcing across electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls, and construction categories, support proposal and project teams with availability and pricing inputs, track lead times and risks, and develop tools and processes that reduce execution risk while aligning suppliers with engineering and deployment requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain approved supplier lists and qualified vendor pools for key DCBBS equipment and service categories across power, cooling, mechanical, electrical, controls, and construction.
  • Track and report lead times, pricing inputs, vendor capacity, and procurement risks for assigned DCBBS projects and deployments, providing proactive visibility to stakeholders.
  • Support proposal and project teams with timely equipment availability assessments, budgetary pricing, and procurement strategy recommendations to meet customer timelines.
  • Coordinate supplier engagement, RFQs, negotiations, and performance management across electrical, mechanical, cooling, controls, and construction-related scope.
  • Develop and implement repeatable procurement tracking tools, vendor comparison templates, scorecards, and escalation processes for consistent DCBBS execution.
  • Partner with engineering, project management, and finance teams to align supplier capabilities, technical requirements, and project timelines while identifying supply risks early.
  • Identify supply risks, develop mitigation strategies (alternative sourcing, buffer planning, capacity expansion), and support contingency planning for long-lead or constrained equipment.
  • Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement of supply chain frameworks, supplier performance metrics, and deployment processes to enhance predictability and scalability.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Act as subject matter expert (SME) on data center supply chain strategy, vendor management, commodity/category management, and procurement best practices for modular and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior supply chain or procurement specialists and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams across engineering, project, and finance organizations.
  • Provide training and guidance on procurement processes, tools, templates, and supplier engagement standards for internal stakeholders.
  • Engage with industry partners, suppliers, and market intelligence sources to stay current on technology trends, capacity shifts, geopolitical risks, and emerging opportunities in data center and AI infrastructure supply chains.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or commodity management for data center, hyperscale, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in vendor qualification, supplier development, contract negotiation, lead time management, capacity planning, and risk mitigation.
