Job Description Parts Counterperson
Department: Parts
Reports To: Parts Manager
Location: Stevens Creek Chevrolet – San Jose, CA
The Parts Counterperson is responsible for providing exceptional service to internal and external customers by accurately identifying, sourcing, selling, and distributing automotive parts and accessories. This position plays a critical role in supporting the Service Department, Wholesale customers, Retail customers, and the overall profitability of the dealership.
The ideal candidate is customer‑focused, organized, detail‑oriented, and thrives in a fast‑paced dealership environment. Accuracy, urgency, and teamwork are essential to success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service- Assist retail, wholesale, and internal service customers professionally and courteously.
- Accurately identify OEM Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Buick, and GM parts using VIN‑specific lookup.
- Answer incoming phone calls promptly while providing pricing, availability, and technical information.
- Recommend related parts and accessories to maximize customer satisfaction and sales opportunities.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent Stevens Creek Chevrolet in a positive manner.
- Supply technicians with the correct parts quickly and accurately.
- Verify parts before issuing to eliminate delays and incorrect installations.
- Prioritize technician needs to maximize shop productivity and efficiency.
- Communicate immediately regarding backorders, supersessions, or parts availability.
- Work closely with Service Advisors to ensure repair orders are completed efficiently.
- Receive, stock, and organize inventory accurately.
- Maintain proper bin locations and inventory integrity.
- Participate in cycle counts and annual physical inventories.
- Pull and stage parts for repair orders and customer pickups.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized parts department.
- Process special orders accurately.
- Notify customers immediately when special‑order parts arrive.
- Properly document returns, credits, warranty parts, and core returns.
- Maintain accurate invoices, repair orders, and parts transactions in Tekion.
- Follow all GM warranty and return policies.
- Work cooperatively with Sales, Service, Body Shop, and Management.
- Attend required dealership and GM training.
- Follow all dealership safety procedures and policies.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Parts Manager.

- Valid California Driver License
- Basic computer skills

- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Previous dealership parts experience
- General Motors parts knowledge
- Experience with Tekion DMS
- Experience using GM Electronic Parts Catalog (EPC)
- Inventory management experience
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Working in warehouse and dealership environments
