Description
The Safety and Facilities Coordinator is responsible for promoting a safe, compliant, and well-maintained workplace across all company locations. This position supports the Compliance and Risk Manager in executing safety programs, leading training initiatives, and ensuring department-level accountability for safety standards. In addition to safety oversight, this role performs light facilities maintenance and helps ensure our physical spaces remain functional, organized, and hazard-free.
This role is operationally driven and may require on-call availability to support urgent facility or safety needs. The ideal candidate is bilingual (Spanish and English), technologically proficient, comfortable working with leadership and frontline staff alike, and capable of responding to evolving operational demands.
Salary: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually
Requirements Key Responsibilities:Safety & Compliance Support
- Lead daily and weekly safety meetings, including early morning toolbox talks with field teams
- Conduct regular safety walkthroughs and field observations to monitor employee behavior, proper PPE use, and site hazards
- Partner with department leaders to ensure safety topics are addressed regularly and participation is tracked
- Maintain accurate safety documentation including training logs, incident reports, SDS sheets, and inspection checklists
- Assist with incident investigations and help implement corrective actions in coordination with the Compliance and Risk Manager
- Deliver new hire safety orientations and ongoing refresher training across departments
- Develop and distribute safety training materials, posters, and signage in both English and Spanish
- Maintain and monitor inventory of PPE and other safety related supplies and restock as needed
- Stay up to date on OSHA and Cal OSHA regulations and ensure internal procedures align with standards
- Respond to on site and off site incidents or near misses to gather firsthand information and provide real time coaching or escalation
- Oversee and maintain safety and compliance training across all departments, ensuring timely completion of onboarding programs, required certifications, and equipment or vehicle operation credentials
- Perform minor facility repairs and tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, installing signage, basic maintenance).
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors & internal accounting dept., for all facility repairs and preventative maintenance work.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs of all sites to ensure cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness.
- Track inventory and order necessary supplies related to safety and facility needs.
- Follow up on monthly facility walkthroughs to ensure all areas are safe, clean, and well-maintained.
- Serve as an on call resource when operational or facility needs require urgent response
- Maintain availability during non standard hours including evenings, early mornings, weekends, and emergency situations when needed
- Respond to facility or safety related emergencies to support business continuity and employee safety
- Independently develop and maintain training materials, checklists, slide decks, and documentation.
- Utilize tools such as Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Talent LMS, and Loom to support communication, training, and tracking.
- Assist the Compliance & Risk Manager with data tracking, safety reports, and process improvement efforts.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (verbal and written)
- 2+ years of experience in a safety, facilities, or compliance-related role
- Working knowledge of OSHA/Cal-OSHA safety regulations and best practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confident presenting to groups & leading meetings
- Tech proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Tech savvy with strong technical aptitude and ability to learn and adapt to new systems and platforms
- Ability to complete hands-on tasks with a problem-solving mindset
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Previous experience in construction, waste services, or field operations environments
- Familiarity with safety tracking software or platforms
- CPR or First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain
- Indoor office and outdoor field work in varying weather conditions
- Early morning meetings and flexible hours based on operational demands
- On-call availability is required when business needs arise
- Physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking yard sites, climbing ladders, and remaining on feet for extended periods
