Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner for a flexible Urgent Care locum tenens opportunity serving multiple established clinics throughout California's South Bay.

This assignment is designed for an experienced local Urgent Care or Emergency Medicine NP who wants to add consistent shifts without committing to a traditional five-day schedule. You'll practice broad-spectrum urgent care in a modern, technology-enabled environment with an AI-supported documentation platform, hands-on procedural medicine, and predictable 10.5-hour shifts.

The initial need runs October through December 2026, with the potential to extend based on ongoing coverage needs.

Schedule

  • Approximately 3 shifts per week
  • 8:30 AM – 7:00 PM

  • Provider must be able to float between all designated South Bay clinics
  • Best suited for a locally based clinician seeking reliable supplemental or flexible scheduling

Clinical Practice

This is true hands-on Urgent Care for experienced clinicians who want to maintain their acute-care and procedural skill set outside the hospital.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate and treat acute illnesses and injuries
  • Perform laceration repair and suturing
  • Splint and manage common orthopedic injuries
  • Provide women's health examinations
  • Evaluate and manage sexually transmitted infections
  • Administer IV fluids when clinically appropriate
  • Perform and interpret point-of-care testing
  • Manage routine respiratory and infectious presentations
  • Order and interpret diagnostic studies within scope
  • Deliver efficient, patient-centered same-day care

Point-of-care capabilities include:

  • Rapid influenza testing
  • COVID testing
  • Mononucleosis testing
  • Urinalysis
  • Rapid HIV testing
  • Additional routine urgent care diagnostics

Practice Environment

These busy, modern Urgent Care clinics serve established communities throughout Silicon Valley and are designed around efficient same-day care.

Typical daily volume ranges from approximately 25–40 patients. Providers should be comfortable with a high degree of clinical autonomy, including single-provider coverage during standard volumes. Staffing may adjust as patient demand increases.

The practice utilizes a proprietary electronic health record with integrated AI documentation technology designed to help clinicians chart quickly and efficiently and spend less time on administrative work.

For experienced Emergency Medicine NPs considering urgent care, this offers the opportunity to retain the acute-care decision-making, procedures, diagnostics, and clinical variety of Emergency Medicine within a more predictable outpatient environment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Active California Nurse Practitioner license
  • Active, unrestricted DEA
  • AANP or applicable national NP certification
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Urgent Care experience
  • Strong suturing and splinting skills
  • Comfortable performing common Urgent Care procedures
  • Comfortable managing a busy outpatient clinical environment
  • Able to float across all designated South Bay locations
  • Minimal malpractice history required
