POSITION SUMMARY
The Environmental Field Chemist II conducts both indoor and outdoor assessments at customer sites, leading safety protocols, packaging materials per regulatory requirements, onsite testing of suspected materials, and collaborative service delivery. The role also oversees hazardous waste removal services.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead collection, characterization, and packaging of customer waste for final disposal.
- Ensure safe transportation of customer waste in compliance with federal and facility regulations.
- Prepare customer paperwork, including Packing Lists, Waste Labels, and Shipping Documents.
- Provide onsite support at customer locations, such as inspections, waste collection, chemical dispensing, inventory management, housekeeping, and outbound waste shipments.
- Identify and categorize suspected contents through internal sampling procedures and Field Screens, delivering detailed waste inventories to customers.
- Travel to customer locations as required.
- Knowledge of chemistry principles and practices, waste processing, and treatment protocols.
- Familiarity with Federal and State Environmental and Transportation regulations (DOT, OSHA, RCRA).
- Skill in proper waste sampling, accurate characterization, problem solving, and computer data gathering.
- Ability to build rapport with associates and managers.
- High attention to detail and clarity in communicating complex concepts.
- Effective working relationships with customers to support routine needs.
- Hold a 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (with 8‑hour refresher) or qualify upon hire.
- Hold a Tanker endorsement or obtain within 3‑6 months of hire.
- Respirator fit test certification.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean MVR meeting company standards.
- Active CDL (A, B, or
C) with HAZMAT endorsement. - Pass Respirator fit test certification.
- Capability to lift or move objects weighing 40 lbs or more regularly.
The pay range is $39.35 to $54.12 per hour, adjusted by locality. The actual range will depend on the location of hire.
