Pay Range: $22.02 per hour – SEIU Local 1877 Salary Schedule
Position OverviewThe Security Team is responsible for the physical security of the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We are looking for a professional individual to provide guests and employees with a safe, secure, and friendly environment to work and enjoy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Continuously control building access, guarding against unauthorized entry and activities
- Monitor video surveillance system and oversee various computer‑related tasks
- Monitor electronic access control system, opening doors, creating accounts and assigning access
- Conduct screening using metal detectors, hand wands and X‑ray units
- Regularly maintain various registers/security logs
- Regularly patrol facility by constant walking and climbing stairs
- Identify and correct safety/security issues while escalating issues as needed to Security Supervisor
- Provide excellent customer service experiences to enhance experience
- Ability to handle radios, speaking opening and professionally demonstrating strong verbal and interpersonal skills
- Follow safety and security policies, programs and procedures with the ability to manage high‑pressure situations
- Operate vehicle gates, fire alarms and other life safety systems
- Work collaboratively with San Jose Emergency Services as needed
- Shift lengths vary depending on business needs and can be up to 8 hours any day and time of the week including weekends and holidays.
- Typical overnight shift: 12:15 AM – 8:15 AM (hours may vary depending on business needs)
- Typical Swing shift from 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM (schedule varies based on event needs)
- You must be available to work two‑thirds of the scheduled events for each month including weekends. Most shifts are evenings and weekends with some holidays.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Valid California Guard Card required
- Must be able to wear SSE assigned uniform during all shifts
- Ability to work various shifts, weekends, possibly holidays, and nights
- Must clear background check with no felony convictions
- Must have the ability to deescalate situations
- Prior security experience preferred
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to operate, transport, and manipulate certain equipment up to 15 pounds with or without accommodation
- Ability to bend at the waist, reach overhead and lift up to 15 lbs with or without accommodation
- Physically navigate stairs and catwalks at SSE facilities during normal work hours and events with or without accommodation
- Must be able to go up and down stairs multiple times in a shift
- Must have the ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time inside and outside
