Job Description

As a Soldering Technician, you will perform precision soldering and rework on complex printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) to high workmanship standards. You will execute advanced micro-soldering tasks involving fine-pitch surface mount device (SMD) components, high pin-count connectors, and rework of QFN, LGA, and BGA including reflow and reballing. Your role will include diagnosing and repairing damaged pads, traces, vias, and connectors, and supporting engineering debug through board modifications, engineering change orders (ECOs), and bodge rework.

You will work from schematics and board layouts, following engineering guidance to execute accurate rework, and document rework actions, common failure modes, and lessons learned.

• Perform precision soldering and rework on complex PCBAs to high workmanship standards.
• Execute advanced micro-soldering tasks, including fine-pitch SMD components, high pin-count connectors, and QFN, LGA, and BGA rework.
• Diagnose and repair damaged pads, traces, vias, and connectors.
• Support engineering debug by implementing board modifications, ECOs, and bodge rework.
• Work from schematics, board layouts, and engineering guidance to execute accurate rework.
• Document rework actions, common failure modes, and lessons learned.
• Help define, improve, and standardize rework procedures and workmanship guidelines.
• Train and support technicians and engineers on soldering best practices.
• Maintain soldering tools, microscopes, rework stations, and consumables.

• 5+ years of professional experience in electronics soldering and PCBA rework.
• Extensive hands-on experience with fine-pitch and high-density PCBAs.
• Proven expertise in micro-soldering under microscope.
• Strong understanding of PCB construction, component packages, and thermal behavior.
• Ability to consistently produce clean, reliable, and inspectable rework.
• High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.
• Comfortable working independently on high-value, time-critical hardware.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Understanding of electronics production processes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Jose, CA.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in San Jose,CA.
