Fiber Optic Network Technician

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Network Technician to join their growing operations in George . This role is pivotal in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fiber optic networks essential for delivering high-speed internet and communication services across the Western Cape . You will be working both in the field and potentially in a support capacity, ensuring the integrity and performance of our client's fiber infrastructure.

• Install, terminate, and splice fiber optic cables in various environments, including aerial, underground, and indoor.
• Perform thorough testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks using specialized equipment like OTDRs and power meters.
• Read and interpret blueprints , schematics, and technical drawings to accurately deploy network infrastructure.
• Respond to service calls and perform repairs to restore connectivity in a timely manner.
• Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of network components to prevent failures.
• Ensure all work is completed safely and according to company standards and industry best practices.

• Proven experience as a Fiber Optic Technician or similar role.
• Proficiency with fiber optic splicing, termination, and testing equipment.
• Understanding of fiber optic network design and construction principles.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation and network diagrams.
• Valid driver's license and a good driving record are essential.
• Experience with FTTx deployment is a plus.
