Samsung Semiconductor Inc.’s Wireless Connectivity Software Engineering team invites motivated Software Engineers to join our San Jose, CA headquarters in developing the firmware infrastructure, framework, and protocol stack for 802.11‑based WLAN chipsets. WhatYou’ll Do
- Work with 802.11 WLAN chipsets, devices, and protocols, including other networking devices
- Collaborate with wider teams to deliver end‑to‑end features and maintain production‑quality firmware
- Design and develop embedded firmware modules for Samsung’s Wireless Connectivity solutions
- Implement, unit‑test, and fix issues in various 802.11 MAC features
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 10+ years of relevant experience, Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years in wireless communication technologies
- Excellent embedded C coding skills critical for firmware development
- Ability to debug low‑level embedded software and proprietary code
- Domain knowledge of Wi‑Fi (IEEE 802.11) MAC protocols, WFA protocols, and coexistence with Bluetooth, UWB, and cellular technologies
- Knowledge of OFDM, OFDMA principles, beamforming, and RF concepts is an additional advantage
- Understanding of QoS concepts and data‑path optimization algorithms
- Understanding of the Linux operating system, kernel, and device‑driver development
- Proficiency with debugging tools such as Wireshark, WFA test beds, and version control tools such as Git
- Python knowledge is an additional advantage
- Familiarity with other wireless technologies such as Bluetooth, UWB, and cellular 4G/5G is preferred
- Strong understanding of MAC‑layer concepts and physical‑layer modulation analysis (OFDM, OFDMA)
- Experience developing firmware for WLAN protocols
- Fluency in using lab equipment such as network analyzers, WFA test beds, signal generators, power meters, etc.

We offer a competitive base pay range of $163,000–$253,000 USD for all roles at this level across all U.S. locations and functions.
