About the TeamThe Global Traffic Infrastructure (GTI) team leverages unified platform capabilities to manage edge infrastructure outside China (both self‑built and third‑party), providing standardized, compliant, scalable, and cost‑effective traffic infrastructure capabilities for edge services. Our vision is to build a global edge traffic infrastructure platform and become the long‑term cornerstone of Byte Dance’s global edge business in terms of scale, performance, and cost.
GTI is seeking an experienced software engineer to develop our data and billing platform, maintain its stability, and drive the functionality and capability of our infrastructure to the next level. The Edge platform team provides various edge cloud solutions worldwide, including Bare Metal, VM and K8s, to manage Tik Tok’s critical streaming services such as CDN and Live Streaming. The team operates hundreds of POPs worldwide and their traffic around the world to run edge workloads.
We are looking for passionate engineers to join and build a cloud‑native edge platform that provides one‑stop solutions for edge services.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to build an enterprise‑level edge computing platform (PaaS) that serves both internal and external teams.
- Build and maintain complex data management, data processing and data warehouse to support petabytes of real‑time and batch data processing and analysis.
- Build and maintain end‑to‑end observability platform, covering edge resources throughout the full life cycle—including resource planning, delivery, sale, runtime and billing—to provide valuable decision‑making insights for global edge resources.
- Design, implement and operate efficient financial servicing platform for various edge products, ensuring edge cloud competitiveness and cost‑effectiveness for customers.
- Develop and enhance microservices using cloud‑native technologies such as Kubernetes, gRPC, REST, Postgres, containers, etc.
- Write unit tests, integration tests, and end‑to‑end tests.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment and be responsible end‑to‑end for the production environment.
- Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience) in Computer Science, Computing Engineering, or related fields.
- 3+ years experience in programming languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
- Experience with one or more databases and messaging frameworks such as MySQL, Postgres, Redis, Kafka, Active
MQ, etc. - Experience in developing backend REST or gRPC services.
- Experience in large‑scale distributed system development.
- Familiarity with data ETL (Extraction, Transformation & Loading) and Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Click House, Flink, etc.
- Experience in cloud infrastructure cost and billing strategy areas.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or other container technologies.
- Experience with backend development frameworks such as Gin, Iris, Django, Spring, etc.
- Deep understanding of data structure design, networking, authentication and authorization, CI/CD build and deployment.
- Experience with or contribution to Cloud Native tools such as Prometheus, ArgoCD, Helm, Kubectl, Kustomize, Grafana, Thanos, etc.
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $156,000 – $387,600 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives and restricted stock units.
