We are looking for a seasoned Senior Manager Software Engineering (Microservices) to join our ZIA Engineering team. This is a hybrid role based in San Jose, CA (3 days a week in office), reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering. As part of the Central Authority department, you will lead the control plane engineering team for the “Zscaler Internet Access” (ZIA) product, managing a fast‑growing team delivering a massively scalable product.

• Lead and mentor a high‑performing team with end‑to‑end ownership, encompassing design, development, qualification, and deployment
• Oversee the design of autonomous, independently deployable services using modern frameworks to ensure a scalable and modular control plane
• Manage CI/CD pipelines, container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker), and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to streamline delivery and operations
• Ensure high availability and system stability by implementing resilience patterns, monitoring service health, and resolving complex performance bottlenecks
• Partner with architects and product managers to define service boundaries, enforce API standards, and align technical execution with business goals

• 12+ years of software experience, including at least 4+ years in leadership/management and a bachelor’s degree in CS or a related field
• Hands‑on expertise in microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous messaging (e.g., Kafka, Rabbit

• Advanced proficiency with containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Strong proficiency in both SQL and No

• Deep understanding of distributed system design patterns and modern security protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT)

• Experience in Cloud Security and Networking domain
• Experience in GenAI and Agentic Systems
