Sr. Software Engineer; Data Migration & Management

Job Summary

Net App is uniquely placed in the industry, partnering with major hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, and Azure). The Cloud Storage team is addressing challenges for cloud-native applications, simplifying customer operations, and differentiating through architecture and design deployed across multiple hyperscalers. • Own and drive the architecture and technical direction for complex cloud-native services, while remaining hands-on with meaningful code contributions (design, implementation, reviews, and quality). Ensure solutions meet performance, scale, reliability, and enterprise-readiness requirements through validation and qualification.
• Ideate and work to solve complex customer problems and contribute to intellectual property.
• Coach and mentor engineers across the team (including new hires and early-career talent) through design guidance, code reviews, and pairing, raising the bar on engineering excellence and execution.
• Collaborate with team members and leadership to ensure overall team objectives are met as ONE team; partnerships with other teams are crucial to the success of customer deliverables.

• 12+ years of industry experience in software development.
• 5+ years of experience in data management/migration systems & storage platforms for managing and storing data across various workloads and environments.
• 3+ years of expert-level hands-on experience in fault-tolerant, highly scalable cloud architectures including service-oriented architectures, cloud-native (FAAS, PAAS), and cloud storage services with at least one hyperscaler (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Proficiency with File systems or file/cloud storage protocols. Experience in NFS/SMB/iSCSI protocols.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Golang, Node.js, Python.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience with Git Hub, Jenkins, Ansible, CI build systems, and automated testing.
• Proactive and self-driven, with strong technical judgment and influential skills.
• Ability to provide architectural guidance and detailed technical direction.
• Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to effectively engage with customers, stakeholders, and the engineering community.

• Strong understanding of storage architecture, storage management, data management, and networking concepts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in Agile software development practices.
• Ability to work with stakeholders, technical communication, and a proven track record in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex customer problems.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical area such as engineering or software development.
• Master’s degree in a technical field preferred, with relevant experience.
