Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications, offering a broad portfolio of microcontrollers, processors, and connectivity solutions. We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Staff Software Engineer with strong experience in C/C++ and Qt development.

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance software applications using C/C++ and Qt.
• Automate workflows and enhance build processes using Python, Bash, Perl, or Power Shell.
• Manage and upgrade GCC compiler tool chains and ensure cross‑platform compatibility.
• Develop and maintain build systems (gmake, Bazel) and optimize CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git Lab, Bitbucket).
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver high‑quality software.
• Apply version control best practices, conduct code review, and manage the software development life cycle.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 12+ years of software development experience, including at least 10 years with C/C++.
• Extensive experience with Qt application development.
• Advanced proficiency in Python and other scripting languages (Bash, Perl, Power Shell).
• Strong knowledge of MSVC libraries and Linux system libraries.
• Proven expertise in managing GCC compiler upgrades and build tool chains.
• Proficiency with build tools such as gmake and Bazel.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git Lab, Bitbucket).
• Deep understanding of the software development life cycle, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, debugging, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.

The annual base salary range for this position (US) is $91,000 – $232,000 (range depends on location, skills, experience).

Travel: 0% – 25%.

Physical attributes: basic hearing, speaking, vision, ability to work alone and with others.

Physical requirements:

10% standing, 10% walking, 80% sitting, 100% indoor; usual business hours.
