Net App is developing a new portfolio of data‑centric storage platforms and services to help the world's leading organizations harness their data in new and interesting ways. As a Software Engineer you will work as part of a talented engineering team responsible for the architecture, design, and development of ONTAP RAID and storage software. The team focuses on delivering innovative technologies to address market and customer requirements with enterprise‑class product quality and time‑to‑market while also maintaining and enhancing existing technologies and products.
Responsibilities- Apply modern software engineering skills and best practices to contribute to new product development and enhancements of existing technologies.
- Design and develop storage system software, including kernel‑level programming and debugging.
- Write unit tests in C/C++ and develop test automation scripts using Python.
- Collaborate with an exceptionally talented global team, engaging in technical discussions and acting as a resource for peers.
- Contribute to design, coding, debugging, performance analysis, and troubleshooting across development, test, and production environments.
- Be proactive in learning and applying the latest testing technologies, tools, and frameworks, while driving automation initiatives.
- Develop, modify, and execute comprehensive software test plans and test cases—both manually and through automation—to ensure high product quality.
- Investigate and resolve issues, collaborating closely with other team members and across teams to address challenges in test and production environments.
- Work collaboratively with engineers distributed across the globe to ensure integrated and consistent testing and development efforts.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and share insights on systems engineering concepts, including computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms, and data structures.
- Opportunity to work with storage protocols such as NVMe, SAS, and Fibre Channel.
- Strong programming skills in C/C++ and Python with hands‑on experience in Linux/UNIX environments.
- Experience in system software programming and kernel‑level debugging.
- Experience writing unit tests and developing test automation scripts.
- Familiarity with modern automation tools and frameworks and a passion for implementing the latest testing methodologies.
- Solid understanding of core systems engineering concepts.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, geo‑distributed teams.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with storage and cloud technologies is a plus.
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
The target salary range for this position is $100,300–$149,600 USD, with final compensation determined by location, qualifications, experience, and education. The package includes a comprehensive benefits program such as health insurance, life insurance, retirement or pension plans, paid time off, leave options, performance‑based incentives, employee stock purchase plans, and/or restricted stock units, subject to regional variations and local laws.
