Job SummaryThe Credit Platform team builds the core foundation behind Pay Pal's global credit ecosystem, powering credit products such as Credit Cards, Buy Now Pay Later, Working Capital, and Merchant Term Loans for millions of customers and businesses worldwide. The team supports credit products across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, and Australia, with plans to expand into additional markets in 2026.
Job Description- Implement tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) with guidance from senior staff.
- Follow well-established internal conventions and standard procedures.
- Apply internal standards and processes to inform technical decisions.
- Collaborate with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions.
- Contribute to code and design reviews.
- 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
As a Software Engineer on the Credit Platform, you will design and build foundational backend systems that enable Pay Pal's credit products to grow and scale globally. You will work on complex, business‑critical systems where correctness, performance, security, and regulatory compliance are essential.
What Do You Need To Bring- 1+ years of backend development experience.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Python, Ruby on Rails).
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs for microservices, focusing on scalability and reliability.
- Experience developing enterprise systems using Spring Frameworks such as Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Data, Spring MVC, Spring Cloud, Spring Batch, and Web Socket or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of web services and Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) standards, including REST, OAuth, and JSON.
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with databases (SQL, No
SQL) and ORM tools like Hibernate.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with large‑scale, high‑performance systems.
- Knowledge of the payment processing industry and relevant regulations.
- Contributions to open‑source projects.
Pay is location dependent and will reflect experience and expertise. The expected range by location is:
- Scottsdale, Arizona: $ – $ Annually
- San Jose, California: $ – $ Annually
Additional compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation.
