Google’s software engineers develop the next‑generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products handle massive scale and go beyond web search. We look for engineers who bring fresh ideas from information retrieval, distributed computing, large‑scale system design, networking, data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile.

The User Assist team’s mission is to simplify and enhance user interaction with large‑screen OS through intelligent assistance, automation, and personalized support. We specialize in building UI experiences for Google book and Android tablets.

Our team owns a cohesive set of user experiences related to device configuration and troubleshooting. Work streams include Gemini Google book integrations, first‑party apps such as Settings, and other Google book features that are not yet public. Future roadmap includes AI integrations, productivity features, user education tools, and product support experiences.

We work across the stack, including Android framework, first‑party Android apps, and server‑side changes to support client experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate engineering solutions in collaboration with partner teams.
  • Participate in the design process by writing design docs and reviewing teammates’ designs.
  • Implement new features and improvements to existing functionality.
  • Manage launch processes for new features by interfacing with stakeholders from product, UX, privacy, security, legal, testing, and accessibility teams.
  • Ensure high‑quality code by adhering to team/project design requirements and participating in the code review process.
Compensation

US: $147,000 – $211,000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.
