Job Duties & Responsibilities- Assist senior engineers with design, development, and optimization of embedded software systems and AI models, with focus on optimization for resource‑constrained hardware
- Support AI model inference and training on embedded platforms, utilizing decentralized and distributed training methodologies
- Support a software stack, including support for both inference and training processes
- Learn from and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to improve product performance
- Aid in monitoring and analyzing equipment behavior using AI‑driven approaches to detect anomalies in utility and metering systems
To start immediately, full‑time hours for summer, potential for part time into fall academic term
Required Skills & Experience- Education:
Enrolled in a related degree program (preference for hardware, firmware, electrical, and/or advanced coursework in software) - Exposure to embedded systems
- Intermediate programming abilities in languages such as C, C++, and Python for embedded systems.
- Strong mathematical skills (preference, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics)
- Able to work onsite at Itron's San Jose office
- Professional workplace communication skills
- Previous academic or work experience on projects related to AI and/or embedded systems.
- Understanding of machine learning
San Jose, California: $25-$57.69/hr
