Google’s software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We’re looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large‑scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design, and mobile.
As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as our fast‑paced business grows and evolves.
Smart wearable glasses with AR and AI experiences strive to provide a natural voice‑based interaction, allowing users to effortlessly activate and engage with different applications like Gemini or translation. Our team focuses on leveraging the audio captured by multiple microphones on these devices and building on‑device deep learning technology to enhance both the user’s speech and the speech of people the user is having conversation with.
The effectiveness of our technology is paramount to successful audio enhancement and understanding. Our technology targets to filter out noise, irrelevant speech, and echo from the speakers and interpret the rich context from the audio to guarantee users and their surroundings are clearly understood.
Google’s XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices; it’s about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We’re building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.
Responsibilities- Learn a full audio stack of smart wearable devices.
- Develop speech enhancement and sound understanding algorithms that are effective at the task and practical to launch in production (on device).
- Evaluate and analyze the performance of our systems, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to identify their limitations and avenues for improvement.
- Experiment and iterate on the data solution, ML modeling architecture, and training strategy to reach quality goals.
- Acquire data that can be used to train and validate a model to solve these tasks.
