Senior Property Accountant (Contract) - Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Property Accountant Consultant to join our team and support a growing real estate portfolio. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with deep experience in property management accounting, CAM reconciliations, and Yardi.

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties.
• Complete full cycle accounting, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance.
• Perform detailed variance analysis and provide commentary to asset management and leadership teams.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of all financial data.

• Lead annual CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and operating expense reconciliations for commercial properties.
• Review leases to ensure accurate interpretation of expense recovery clauses.
• Prepare tenant CAM statements and support property managers with tenant inquiries.
• Collaborate with property management teams to forecast and budget CAM expenses.

• Partner with property managers, asset managers, and leadership to support operational and financial goals.
• Respond to auditor requests and assist with year-end audit processes.
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of property accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate.
• Strong Yardi experience required.
• Proven expertise in CAM reconciliations and lease interpretation.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
