Pay range: $66,550 - $119,800 per year. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

The Biomedical Equipment Engineer (BME) is responsible for the operation, repair, and preventive maintenance (PM) of all assigned laboratory equipment, ensuring continuous, 24‑hour operations. The role requires a high level of expertise in repair, PM, and extensive knowledge of specific instruments, including Olympus AU series analyzers, hematology automated lines, automated sorter/aliquoters, mass spectrometers, and other complex instrumentation. Additional duties include calibration of equipment, inventory control, training and documentation, and independent project management.
Responsibilities- Calibrate, maintain, and repair all laboratory equipment to ensure reliable operations.
- Coordinate with Lab Operations and Reliability Engineering teams to align priorities, budgeting, and progress toward departmental objectives.
- Determine priorities for equipment repair or maintenance and requisition parts and materials efficiently.
- Train and lead Biomedical Equipment Technicians on maintenance and repair procedures.
- Maintain accurate CMMS records, including service reports, calibrations, and preventive maintenance logs.
- Adhere to all company and industry safety procedures while performing duties.
- Collaborate with other labs and vendors to source equipment and parts during outages or repairs.
- Communicate with facilities regarding utility issues related to equipment.
- Interact professionally with laboratory personnel and inform managers of equipment needs and impact on production.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide timely responses to internal client requests.
Work Experience:
- Minimum three to five years of proven service experience on complex laboratory or hospital instrumentation.
- Manual dexterity for handling small tools and intricate tasks in confined areas.
- Ability to differentiate color‑coded wires and interpret visual readouts; pass color blindness screening.
- Ability to respond to auditory warnings and messages.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, reaching, and squatting.
- Extensive knowledge of chemistry, hematology, or related instrumentation.
- Extensive knowledge of PM and calibration requirements for centrifuges, electronic scales, pipettes, decappers, microscopes, shakers, rockers, and warmers.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize instrument availability.
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, independent thinker.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics to isolate problems and determine root causes.
- Proficiency in reading mechanical drawings to isolate problems and determine root causes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Proficiency in one or more asset reliability processes (e.g., TPM, RCFA, RCM, FMEA).
