Purpose:

The tutor provides academic support for students in their courses. Tutor serves as a role model and helps develop pride in the student. Tutors are expected to be active learners, not experts.

Education/Certification:

Certified Bilingual teacher

Experience:

Certified Teachers/Retired Teachers:
Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience on the floor and or in a classroom.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Trustees may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities and Duties:

* Be positive and professional.

* Arrive on time and prepared for class.

* Always act as a role model and wear appropriate attire.

* Assist students in area of academic need.

* Actively participate in collaborative groups and tutorials.

* Inform the teacher in advance of absences or late arrival on a tutorial day.

* Become familiar with the specific routines and expectations of each teacher's classroom.

* Facilitate the tutorial learning process.

* Adhere to district/site policies and procedures.

Present a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
