Role DescriptionThe High School Physics Teacher is a full‑time, on‑site role located in San Leandro, CA. This role is responsible for planning and delivering engaging physics lessons aligned with district and state standards, including lab activities that promote inquiry and problem‑solving. The teacher designs assessments, evaluates student progress, and provides constructive feedback to support academic growth. Daily responsibilities include maintaining a safe and organized classroom and laboratory environment, integrating technology into instruction, collaborating with colleagues on curriculum and school initiatives, and communicating regularly with students, families, and support staff.
The teacher participates in professional development, staff meetings, and school events as part of the broader school community.
- Demonstrated knowledge of high school physics concepts, scientific inquiry, and lab safety practices.
- Ability to design and implement standards‑based lesson plans, assessments, and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.
- Strong classroom management, student engagement, and communication skills, including clear explanations of complex ideas.
- Comfort with using educational technology, digital resources, and data to support instruction and track student progress.
- Valid teaching credential appropriate for secondary science/physics in California (or eligibility to obtain), and a bachelor’s degree in physics, science education, or a related field.
- Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and creating an inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Experience collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional learning, and engaging families and guardians in student success.
- Previous high school teaching experience and familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are beneficial.
