Mechanical Engineer, Systems Engineer
We are seeking a driven and experienced Mechanical Engineer who will lead process design, development, and qualification for complex mechanical hardware, including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems. This role requires both technical depth and versatility, with expectations to independently own major portions of a system while adapting to evolving program needs.
You will work in a program-team environment, providing technical leadership across requirements definition, concept generation, material selection, trade studies, optimization, design documentation, assembly, integration, and testing. Hands-on hardware interaction in a lab environment is a key component of this role.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform high-impact program tasks with limited supervision.
- Present work to internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives.
- Generate Technical Data Package components (part drawings, assembly drawings, etc.).
- Prototype, integrate, and test component parts and assemblies.
- Develop and execute test plans and procedures for mechanical subsystems.
- Conduct component and system-level testing and evaluations.
- Participate in design reviews including peer reviews, PDRs, and CDRs.
- Support and implement product changes through review meetings and discussions.
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary design teams.
- Follow company processes for design, configuration management, purchasing, and documentation.
- Provide direction to Designers and Technicians on project tasks.
- Support field testing and demonstrations as the mechanical engineering representative.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum 6 years of relevant experience; OR
- Graduate degree with minimum 4 years of relevant experience; OR
- 10+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing complex mechanical hardware, including precision mechanisms and electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong understanding and practical application of ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Skilled in using design tools such as Pro Engineer, AutoCAD, or Solid Works.
- Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS and NASTRAN preferred).
- Proficiency in creating technical documentation and reports.
- Experience using MS Office and PLM software.
- Comfortable with hands-on hardware work in lab environments.

In accordance with pay transparency guidelines, the salary range for this role is $100,000 – $185,500
, depending on experience, location, and qualifications.
