Lyten is a leading company developing supermaterials and advanced manufacturing. We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to design, implement, and optimize industrial processes for pouch cell assembly.
Job Responsibilities- Process Ownership & Maturation: develop, document, and stabilize assembly processes for pouch cell manufacturing, taking ownership of a shifting pilot line environment.
- Sustaining & Optimization: monitor equipment performance, analyze workflows, and introduce continuous improvements to increase yield and throughput.
- Data-Driven Troubleshooting: create, plan, and execute Design of Experiments (DOEs) to understand the assembly processing window, using production data to troubleshoot and resolve complex process and equipment issues.
- Adaptability to the Unknown: operate in “grey areas” where documentation or processes may be incomplete; proactively drive clarity and establish control.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: collaborate with R&D, sourcing, and production teams to align pilot line operations with development schedules and cell integration targets; support junior engineers.
- Documentation: develop and iterate detailed SOPs, control plans, and specification requirements as the process matures.
- Vendor Support (as needed): interface with equipment suppliers to resolve deep technical issues.
- Reporting & Justification: provide regular updates to engineering leadership, using data and experimental results to recommend modifications or upgrades.
- Safety & Compliance: conduct risk assessments (e.g., FMEAs) and adhere to safety regulations and company policies.
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years of hands‑on engineering experience in a manufacturing, pilot, or scale‑up environment.
- Minimum of 2 years working with battery cell stacking, notching, and/or assembly equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD design, GD&T, and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
- Track record of solving complex process engineering issues.
- Strong desire to learn, high adaptability to a fast‑paced pilot line environment, and comfort with evolving, less‑mature systems.
- Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals, statistical concepts, and proficiency with data tools (Excel, MATLAB, JMP, Minitab).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to document processes and present findings.
- Expected to travel.
- Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- No physical limitations to wearing PPE, including respirators when required.
- Must collaborate well with team members.
- Must occasionally work in a dry room setting.
